This page sets out what LobeCraft collects when you visit, why it is collected, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The scope of this page
This policy covers this website. It does not cover the sites we link to, each of which has its own, nor any social platform where the site has a presence: there, the platform’s rules govern what it collects, and we see only what it chooses to show us.
The data that passes through
Loading a page transmits technical data: your IP address, the browser and device you use, which pages you open, the site you came from, and how long you read. We keep it in aggregate and never link it to a person.
Anything else comes from you deliberately – a subscription email address, or the message you send us.
Why we hold it
- Serve the pages and diagnose faults when something breaks.
- See in bulk which piercings pages earn their place and which do not.
- Write back when you contact us.
- Send the newsletter, to subscribers only.
- Satisfy a legal requirement where one exists.
Who else sees it
Four outside services touch this data, each under its own privacy policy: Google Analytics (aggregate statistics), Google AdSense (advertising), our hosting provider (server logs), and our email provider (newsletter delivery). They may set their own cookies.
Because Google and our other providers are United States companies, data that reaches them is handled outside the EEA and the United Kingdom. The safeguards for those transfers are the ones those providers publish; we add none of our own.
Subscribing
The newsletter works on one address and nothing else: no name is asked for, and the address is used to send the newsletter and for nothing besides. It is not passed to anyone, and the unsubscribe link at the foot of every issue removes it from the list rather than flagging it.
The legal grounds
For readers covered by European or United Kingdom law, the lawful bases are consent (newsletter, non-essential cookies), legitimate interest (operating the site, aggregate measurement) and legal obligation. Any consent given can be taken back whenever you like.
How long it is kept
Nothing is kept indefinitely on purpose. The host rotates its logs, Google Analytics applies its configured retention period, subscription addresses remain until you unsubscribe, and correspondence goes once it has served its purpose.
No sale of data
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s independent marketing. There is no data broker in this chain. California readers should read that as the answer to the opt-out right under the CCPA: there is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is sold.
Automated processing
Nothing on this site makes an automated decision affecting you, and there is no profiling of consequence. It is a publication, not a system that rates people.
What you can demand
You may request access, rectification or erasure at any time. Every mailing carries a working unsubscribe link. Cookies stay under your browser’s control. Statutory rights in the EEA, the UK and California are honoured for everyone here, not only for the readers who can invoke them.
Minors
Readers under 13 are not the audience for LobeCraft and we do not knowingly hold their data. A message from a parent or guardian is enough to have anything of the sort erased.
Safeguards
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect what we hold. No system on the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.
If something goes wrong
If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first through the contact page; it is usually the fastest route. You are equally entitled to complain to your national data protection authority without going through us at all.
Revisions
Policies drift when tools change, so this one is updated rather than left to rot. The date at the top is the date that matters.
