This page sets out what LobeCraft collects when you visit, why it is collected, and what you can ask us to do about it.
The scope of this page
This policy covers this website. It does not cover the sites we link to, each of which has its own, nor any social platform where the site has a presence: there, the platform’s rules govern what it collects, and we see only what it chooses to show us.
The data that passes through
Loading a page transmits technical data: your IP address, the browser and device you use, which pages you open, the site you came from, and how long you read. We keep it in aggregate and never link it to a person.
We pass your IP address to an outside service (country.is) when you do something that sends data in — send the contact form or run a search — so we can tell which country the request comes from. It returns only the country; we keep that country code for a day, under a fingerprint of the address rather than the address itself. From outside the countries the site serves, those actions are declined: the form says so, and a search just returns you to the homepage. This check never happens when you simply read a page or an article.
Anything else comes from you deliberately – the message you send us.
Why we hold it
- Serve the pages and diagnose faults when something breaks.
- See in bulk which piercings pages earn their place and which do not.
- Write back when you contact us.
- Satisfy a legal requirement where one exists.
Who else sees it
One outside service touches this data: our hosting provider, which keeps the server logs and the database, under its own privacy policy. There is no analytics, no advertising and no mail provider. No cookies are set; some pages call Gravatar for an author avatar, the only other outside domain. This page will be updated before any advertising, analytics or mail service is added.
No provider here is a United States company handling your data abroad, because the only provider is the host. If that changes, this page will name the provider and say where the data goes.
Subscribing
The legal grounds
For readers covered by European or United Kingdom law, the lawful bases are legitimate interest (operating the site) and legal obligation. There are no non-essential cookies, and nothing is measured in aggregate.
How long it is kept
Nothing is kept indefinitely on purpose. The host rotates its logs, and correspondence goes once it has served its purpose. The newsletter has been withdrawn, and the addresses collected for it were deleted from the site on 12 October 2026.
No sale of data
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for anyone else’s independent marketing. There is no data broker in this chain. California readers should read that as the answer to the opt-out right under the CCPA: there is nothing to opt out of, because nothing is sold.
Automated processing
Nothing on this site makes an automated decision affecting you, and there is no profiling of consequence. It is a publication, not a system that rates people.
What you can demand
You may request access, rectification or erasure at any time. The site sets no cookies. Statutory rights in the EEA, the UK and California are honoured for everyone here, not only for the readers who can invoke them.
Minors
Readers under 13 are not the audience for LobeCraft and we do not knowingly hold their data. A message from a parent or guardian is enough to have anything of the sort erased.
Safeguards
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect what we hold. No system on the internet is perfectly secure, and we will not pretend otherwise.
If something goes wrong
If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first through the contact page; it is usually the fastest route. You are equally entitled to complain to your national data protection authority without going through us at all.
Revisions
Policies drift when tools change, so this one is updated rather than left to rot. The date at the top is the date that matters.
